KILI48 is a transformational high-altitude expedition experience operated by KILI48 Expeditions. By booking or participating in a KILI48 expedition, participants acknowledge and accept the following Terms & Conditions.
1. Participation requirements
Participants understand that KILI48 is a physically and mentally demanding expedition involving high altitude exposure, cold exposure, intense physical activity, breathwork practices, and unpredictable mountain conditions. Participants are responsible for ensuring they are physically and mentally fit to participate.
All participants must complete the required health screening, provide honest medical information, follow expedition leadership instructions, and act responsibly toward the group and crew.
2. Medical Conditions
KILI48 is not suitable for individuals with epilepsy, serious cardiovascular conditions, uncontrolled high blood pressure, pregnancy, or medical conditions that may create increased risk during intense physical activity, breathwork, altitude exposure, or cold exposure. Participants are fully responsible for consulting their medical professional before participation if unsure about their suitability. All participants may be required to complete a medical questionnaire and disclose relevant health information prior to departure.
3. Booking & Payment
Participants may choose between full payment of €4,900, or a €900 deposit followed by two scheduled installments: €2,000 due 120 days before departure, and the remaining balance of €2,000 due 60 days before departure. All payments are arranged via invoice and email communication after booking. Upon request, the remaining balance may also be paid in Bitcoin (BTC). Any BTC payment will be valued based on the EUR equivalent at the time the payment is received and confirmed by KILI48.
Failure to pay any installment by its due date may result in cancellation of the booking. In such case, the applicable cancellation terms shall apply.
The €900 deposit secures your place on the expedition and includes access to the KILI48 Digital Preparation Program. As the program and preparation services commence upon registration, the deposit is non-refundable.
4. Cancellation & Refund Policy
Participant Cancellation
The €900 deposit secures your place on the expedition and includes access to the KILI48 Digital Preparation Program, including online preparation sessions, breathwork training, mindset coaching, educational content, administration, planning, and expedition preparation resources. As these services commence upon registration, the deposit is non-refundable.
Cancellation shall take effect on the date written notice is received by KILI48.
If a participant cancels:
more than 120 days before departure, all payments made will be refunded except the €900 deposit.
between 60 and 120 days before departure, 50% of payments made will be refunded, and the €900 deposit remains non-refundable.
Cancellations less than 60 days before departure are non-refundable.
Travel Insurance Recommendation
KILI48 strongly recommends comprehensive travel insurance including cancellation coverage.
Organizer Rights & Expedition Changes
KILI48 reserves the right to cancel, postpone, or significantly modify an expedition where reasonably necessary. This may include insufficient participant numbers, safety concerns, operational impossibility, local authority restrictions, political instability, environmental hazards, health emergencies, guide unavailability, partner or supplier failure, logistical impossibility, weather conditions, natural disasters, transportation disruptions, pandemics, epidemics, civil unrest, government restrictions,political instability, or other force majeure events.
Organizer Cancellation
If KILI48 cancels an expedition before commencement, participants shall receive a refund of payments made directly to KILI48. Refunds do not include flights, hotel bookings, equipment purchases, visa costs, insurance premiums, vaccinations, exchange rate losses, third-party bookings, or incidental expenses.
Alternative Solutions
Depending on circumstances, participants may also be offered rescheduling, partial credit, or alternative expedition solutions. KILI48 shall not be liable for delays, changes, or disruptions caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, subject always to any rights granted to participants under applicable law. KILI48 shall not be liable for indirect losses, consequential damages, or expenses incurred outside services directly provided by the Organizer.
Force Majeure
KILI48 shall not be liable for failure or delay in performance caused by events beyond its reasonable control including natural disasters, extreme weather,political instability, civil unrest, government restrictions, pandemics, epidemics, transportation disruptions, or other extraordinary circumstances.
5. Participant Transfer
Transfer of participation to another individual may be possible upon written approval by KILI48. Approval may depend on timing, operational feasibility, participant suitability, and expedition preparation requirements. Administrative fees may apply. KILI48 reserves the right to decline participant transfers where reasonably necessary.
6. Travel Insurance
All participants are required to obtain valid travel insurance covering high-altitude trekking, emergency evacuation, mountain rescue, medical emergencies, and trip cancellation. Proof of insurance may be requested before departure.
Participants are solely responsible for all medical, rescue, evacuation, repatriation, and healthcare costs not explicitly included in the expedition package.
7. Safety & Expedition Authority
Participant safety is the highest priority. Expedition leaders, guides, and mountain professionals reserve the right to modify the itinerary, change pacing, stop ascent attempts, require descent, or remove participants from activities if safety concerns arise. All safety decisions made by expedition leadership are final.
8. Summit Disclaimer
Summiting Mount Kilimanjaro is never guaranteed. Success depends on weather conditions, altitude adaptation, physical readiness, group safety, and individual health conditions. KILI48 prioritizes participant safety over summit success.
9. Assumption of Risk
Participants understand that mountaineering and high-altitude trekking involve inherent risks including injury, illness, altitude sickness, accidents, extreme weather conditions, physical exhaustion, and serious medical emergencies. By participating, individuals voluntarily accept these risks.
10. Itinerary Changes
Mountain and expedition environments are dynamic. KILI48 reserves the right to modify schedules, routes, accommodation, summit strategy, pacing, activities, transport arrangements, and expedition logistics where reasonably necessary due to weather, safety concerns, participant condition, operational requirements, local guidance, or environmental conditions. Such changes do not constitute breach of contract.
11. Media Consent
KILI48 may capture photo and video content during the expedition for website, social media, marketing, and documentary purposes. Participants consent to the use of such material. Participants who do not wish to appear in identifiable marketing materials must notify KILI48 in writing before departure.
12. Participant Responsibility & Conduct
Participants agree to prepare responsibly before departure, follow expedition instructions, communicate openly regarding health issues, and respect local crew, guides, and fellow participants. KILI48 reserves the right to remove participants from activities or the expedition without refund if behavior is considered unsafe, disruptive, reckless, abusive, aggressive, intoxicated, or non-compliant with expedition safety protocols.
13. Personal Property
Participants are responsible for their own personal belongings and equipment throughout the expedition. KILI48 is not responsible for lost belongings, stolen items, damaged equipment, delayed luggage, or personal valuables. Participants are encouraged to obtain appropriate insurance coverage.
14. Local Operators & Third-Party Suppliers
Certain services included in the expedition may be delivered by independent local operators, guides, accommodation providers, transport companies, and other third-party suppliers. KILI48 carefully selects its partners but cannot be held responsible for services, actions, omissions, delays, or circumstances beyond its reasonable control.
15. Liability Limitation
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by applicable law. Nothing in these Terms & Conditions shall limit or exclude any mandatory rights granted to participantsunder applicable package travel legislation or consumer protection laws.
16. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Sweden.
17. Jurisdiction
Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Swedish courts.
18. Severability
If any provision of these Terms & Conditions is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable by a court or competent authority, the remaining provisions shall remain valid and enforceable to the fullest extent permitted by law.
19. Final Agreement
By booking a KILI48 expedition, participants confirm that they have read, understood, and accepted these Terms & Conditions, acknowledge the physical and mental demands of the expedition, understand and voluntarily accept the risks involved, and agree to follow all safety protocols and leadership decisions.
The mountain demands responsibility, preparation, humility, and respect. KILI48 exists to challenge people deeply — while always prioritizing safety, professionalism, and human connection.
